Teaching Experience

During my studies, I always tried to combine my passion for teaching and education with my deep interest for human rights and social issues. This led me, in 2016, to become part of Guides (UK) as an assistant, where I organised and coordinated recreational and educational activities for a group of twenty girls aged between 10 and 15. In the same year I became part of a group of ten volunteers conducting an interdisciplinary project of educational and recreational activities, art and craft sessions and games for the children of the school in Jinja (Uganda). In 2019, I was team leader in a project by the Are You Syrious, association in Croatia charged with organising an overseas trip bringing 15 young students to Croatia to provide lessons and activities to local young refugees and asylum seekers. Currently, I am giving private language classes to students online. Being an Italian born in Switzerland (a multicultural and multilingual country), having studied in England and in Italy, and now living in Portugal, different languages and cultures have always been an essential part of my daily life. Moreover, having studied multiple languages myself, I am particularly aware of the difficulties inherent in learning a foreign language. I also help prospective university students with their personal statements, CVs, and the whole application process. Being an Italian student willing to study in the UK led me to scrutinise the admission process and gain a wide knowledge of what different universities value most in candidates. Moreover, having applied to, successfully obtained an offer from, and studied at Oxford, I also have expertise in this procedure and I can help my students with useful tips and suggestions to improve their applications and let their personality and passion shine through.

Dissertation Chapter

Having successfully graduated both from Warwick (bachelor's) and from Oxford (master's) with first-class dissertations, I can offer my students helpful guidance during the research phase, as well as accurate insight into how to effectively structure arguments and successfully expose them in a convincing and original way.

Personal Statement

University admissions: Being an Italian student willing to study abroad in the UK led me to scrutinise very carefully the admission process and gain a wide knowledge of what different universities value most in candidates. Since then, I have successfully been helping prospective university students with their personal statements, CVs, and the whole application process. Oxbridge preparation: Obtaining an offer from a leading university can be a major step in one’s career and particular care should be given to the thorough and strict examination these universities give to students’ personal statements, CVs, and interviews. Having applied to, successfully obtained an offer from, and studied at Oxford, I have expertise in this procedure and I can help my students with useful tips and suggestions to improve their applications and let their personality and passion shine through.

Italian

Being an Italian born in Switzerland (a multicultural and multilingual country), having studied in England and in Italy, and now living in Portugal, different languages and cultures have always been an essential part of my daily life. Moreover, having studied multiple languages myself, I am particularly aware of the difficulties inherent in learning a foreign language. When teaching Italian, I shape my classes according to the students’ individual needs. I believe in enriching vocabulary and grammar lessons with little written tasks and oral conversations about Italian culture and current topics. This allows students to put theory into practice and contextualisation, and to render the classes more engaging and interesting. I also use translation as a powerful tool to delve into further aspects of the studied language.
