About me

Hi, my name is Tanika and I teach Math. I feel that personal attention does wonders when it comes to a student's growth. I owe it to my personal tutor to help me excel in math when I was in school. The tutoring I received inspired me to pay close attention to my student’s questions and help them improve through practice and motivation. Some of my achievements include receiving a ‘Letter of excellence’ for my academic performance in grade 10 by the national government and earning a meritorious 25th rank in a national level aptitude competition for engineers. I'm excited to share the strategies that enabled me to accomplish these goals. I have been teaching math for the last 2 years and made a difference to multiple students from different parts of the world.

Teaching Experience

I love the play of numbers and enjoy the thrill of tackling a challenging problem. To give my students a taste of this thrill, I start with basic problems of any topic and make them familiar with it. Throughout the sessions, I keep them engaged in problem solving by seeking their inputs and allowing them to take lead in arriving at the solution. This exercise helps in dispelling misconceptions that students may have. In order to build their confidence, I give them a set of practice problems after each session. This also helps them improve their speed of solving numerical problems and reduces the chances of mistakes. Finally, I give them periodic examinations to familiarise them with the exam style and that is how I help my students enjoy Math.
