Teaching Experience

Born with Cerebral Palsy, due to most of the right side of my brain missing, one of my biggest passions in life is and always has been helping people overcome challenges so their dreams and goals can become a reality. Therefore, whenever one of my classmates/peers need extra help, whether it's with physical aid, emotional support, or mental training (a.k.a tutoring), I am always the first to oblige no matter how busy my schedule may be at times.

While it may be true that I may have more experience tutoring in the private sector than the professional one, that does not mean I am not qualified to help you achieve something wonderful. In fact, I am probably the most determined, patient, and kind person when it comes to helping students learn/perfect a new skill because unlike some, I will not give up until I have gotten the skill to "click" with you. I know what it feels like to be lost during a lecture, feel frustrated or embarrassed, and beat yourself down by saying you're an idiot. That was me during all of my math classes until the year I had a teacher say it wasn't my fault if I didn't get it right away; it was hers for not finding a way to make me understand. Let me be that teacher/tutor for you and together we will open doors to new possibilities, no matter the subject.

I have been helping people with their academics since I was in middle/high school. Whenever I saw a classmate struggling in a subject that I excelled in such as Spanish and English, I would stay after school to try to help them. It was not until 2013, that I became a part-time professional tutor for a company named Tutor.com where I tutored Kg-College students in English/Writing and often gave career help to those looking for jobs. Unfortunately, after a year of maintaining a five-star rating from the students and their parents, I was let go because I was not able to work full-time and finish my college career.

Extracurricular Interests

Outside of tutoring, I love to challenge myself and play new computer games, complete daily crossword puzzles, and watch television. Yes, I am kind of a nerd, but who is not to some degree? *laughs out loud* My favorite sports to watch are American football (Redskins), college basketball, and tennis (Rafa Nadal); while my favorite type of music is country.

Top subjects

Astronomy : I have always been fascinated by astronomy. In fact, out of all the science classes that I took, this is the only one that actually "clicked" with me without much trouble. I even took an Astronomy course in college as an elective.

Research Paper: Throughout my educational career, I have composed a countless amount of research papers in MLA, APA, and Chicago formats. However, since I was a sociology major at Longwood University, I have the most experience with APA. Though that does not mean I can not help with the others.

Editing: Writing is another one of my passions. Whether its a research paper or basic poetry, I would love to help you.

Resume Writing: Considering that I helped about fifteen clients at the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services write theirs, I can honestly say that I am qualified to help you.
